Part of the mission of the Smith Club of Maine is to raise funds for scholarships to benefit students from Maine. We do this in a variety of ways, but the mainstay of our fundraising effort has been the sale of premium pecans direct from growers in Georgia. We are presently studying other possibilities for fundraising, including the sale of a variety of products made in Maine, and an ongoing endowment for scholarships for Maine students. | The Book Award and Scholarship Funds |
We continue to need your strong financial support for our Book Awards, as the book we give, Smith Voices, costs about $30 per copy. Awards are presented to outstanding juniors who exemplify the academic achievement, leadership qualities, and concern for others that characterize Smith women. We make these awards to encourage our local high school women to be their best and to encourage the finest young women to apply to Smith. Students who are honored as Smith Book Award recipients have their application fees waived should they apply to Smith. Thank you for your continuing support of this program.
